A Different Kind of CPTD Study Group

When we teach others, we organize information, identify gaps in our understanding, connect concepts, and apply what we've learned. These activities help strengthen comprehension and long-term retention.

That idea is at the heart of our study group.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

ORIENTATION

Before the study group begins, participants attend an orientation session to:

  • Meet facilitators and fellow participants
  • Review the study schedule
  • Learn about presentation assignments
  • Explore available study resources
  • Understand expectations and commitments

One of the most effective ways to learn is to teach.

WEEKLY SESSIONS

Over twelve weeks, participants study and discuss content from the Talent Development Body of Knowledge.

Each session includes:

    • Participant-led presentations
    • Facilitated discussion
    • Questions and answers
    • Practical examples and applications
    • Exam preparation tips and strategies

SHARED STUDY RESOURCES

One of the greatest benefits of the program is the collective knowledge of the cohort.

Throughout the study group, presenters share:

    • Slide decks
    • Study guides
    • Discussion notes
    • Memory aids
    • Practice techniques
By the end of the program, participants gain access to a valuable library of study materials created by the group.

    PARTICIPANT EXPECTATIONS

The study group succeeds because participants actively contribute to one another's learning.

    Participants are expected to:

      • Attend sessions regularly
      • Complete assigned reading and preparation
      • Participate in discussions
      • Lead or co-lead assigned topics
      • Share presentation materials
      • Respect the commitment and contributions of fellow participants

    WHAT YOU'LL GAIN

Beyond preparing for the exam, participants frequently report gaining:

      • Greater confidence
      • Deeper professional knowledge
      • Stronger facilitation and presentation skills
      • New ideas and perspectives
      • Valuable professional relationships
      • Increased motivation and accountability
